Cristiano Ronaldo: 2009 FIFA Player of the Year

The 23 year old hunk football player Cristiano Ronaldo is the FIFA Player of the Year after gathering 935 votes in a worldwide poll of national team captains and coaches.

“This is a prize that has always been an ambition of mine ever since I started playing football,” Ronaldo said. “But when I started at Sporting Lisbon six years ago I never imagined it would come so quickly.”

“It is an overwhelming moment, a very special moment in my life,” Ronaldo said. “I would like to say to my mother and sister that the fireworks can be fired off now.”

Ronaldo had unbelievable season in 2008, scoring a staggering 42 goals, leading Manchester United to the Premier League and Champions League titles in May 2008.
