Canadian diver Alexandre Despatie was born on June 8, 1985 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He began diving at age 5 in his own backyard pool, and in the 2000 Summer Olympics finished in 4th place in the 10 metre platform.

French Canadian diver Despatie won the 3 metre springboard at the World Aquatic Championship in his hometown, Montreal.
